The Best View - Admire the City of Arts and Sciences from the Highest Terrace in the City

Valencia is what it is today because of the City of the Arts and Sciences. We would highly recommend a day spent enjoying the wide range of scientific and artistic sights that the city has to offer, gazing in wonder at the astonishing futuristic architecture and complex design. At night, however, if you’re in search of something unusual and extra special, then enjoy an aerial view of the City of Arts and Sciences from the highest terrace in the city. Sit back and watch the sunset over the city as you sample the best local wines and taste freshly prepared local dishes. This unique culinary experience really is a must for anyone wishing to capture the best views in the city. For a particularly spectacular view, take a tour during Valencia Fallas festival, and watch the city light up with fireworks. Fireworks are a Valencian speciality, and can be enjoyed during many Valencia Events if you are looking to coincide your holiday with the most spectacular views.

Park Views - Wander through the Turia Gardens

Take a stroll or pedal a bike through these meandering gardens to ensure that you are getting a typical authentic Valencian experience. The park is a hub of activity all year round, with many people practising sports like football, jogging or tai chi in the grounds. In the warm weather especially you are sure to spot people lying in the shade of the trees to read a book or listen to music. It is one of the most famous Valencia sights, mostly because of its sheer size; the Turia gardens run throughout the entire city. They parks were created in the bed of the diverted Turia River, and thus wind their way through the city for 7km from West to East. With several kilometres of green grass and a tranquil atmosphere, it is hard to believe you are in the heart of the city.

For the more athletic amongst you, there are plenty of cycling and running paths, as well as sports facilities. If culture is what you are after, the park boasts an array of distinct architectural styles for you to enjoy; as well as traditional Spanish architecture, there are elements of Moorish design, as well as the famous City of Arts & Sciences complex which are an example of Valencia’s modern design. If you are a keen photographer, or just like to get the perfect holiday snaps, beautiful nature scenes are the ideal place for your Valencia photos. There are also many benches throughout the park which are a lovely spot just to sit and people-watch.  Whatever your holiday style, there is something to suit everyone here, and as one of the most quintessential Valencia sights, it is definitely worth a visit.

Nature Views - Gaze Out at the Waters of L'Albufera

Albufera, Valencia is the famed nature reserve located just outside the city. Come here to escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre and enjoy spectacular views across the waters and rice fields. Home to many endangered species of bird and fish, you will find yourself surrounded by bird song and the gentle lapping of the waters. There are various nature trails for you to enjoy, both by foot and by bike. From the docks, you are able to take a boat out onto the water and appreciate the tranquility and stillness of the waters. Albufera is home to some of the most epic sunsets, with the reflections on the water making it an ideal Valencia photo spot. Watch the sun go down from the jetties and soak up the relaxed ambiance. Since the area is also the birthplace of paella, we recommend you sample some whilst you are there!

Historical Views - Overlook Valencia's Historic Old Town

It may be a 207-step climb up an ancient spiral staircase to reach the El Miguelete bell tower, but the views at the top of the stairwell are worth it for any history buff. You will be granted a view across the rooftops of Valencia’s Old Town, its historic quarter, steeped in traditional Spanish architecture. Particularly noteworthy is the aerial view you can gain of Valencia’s 13th Century Cathedral; the cathedral is a smorgasbord of architectural styles and encompasses traditional Valencian Gothic designs along with elements from the Baroque, Renaissance, Romanesque and Neo-Classical periods. You can also spot an unusual homage to Judaism, in the visible Star of David. The patrons at the time were Jewish, and thus wanted a symbol in the cathedral; however, the architect made efforts to hide the star with floral motives. The result is what is now known as the Seal of Solomon. If you’d like to know more interesting facts about Valencia from local experts, be sure to check out our city toursThe bell-tower itself is located in the Plaza de la Reina, a square that is iconic for its beautiful views. It serves as an excellent spot in which to pause and soak up the atmosphere in this historic part of town. During Valencia Fallas festival, the old town is alive with explosions, as the city celebrates one of the oldest traditional Valencian celebrations, although there are many Valencia Events throughout the year, in which the city comes to life.

Beach Views - Stroll Along Playa de la Malvarrosa

If you’re in search of a coastal paradise then look no further than Patacona beach. An easy bus ride away from the city center, it is hard to believe that you are still in Valencia as you watch the waves lap against the shore. A little further up from it’s neighbouring beach, Malvarosssa, Patacona beach is less commercialised and touristic. Enjoy sunbathing on the warm sands, take a dip in the sea, or stroll along the promenades. This area of town possesses an old-world charm and you will see its charming coloured-fronted buildings which maintain their original architectural design. Sip a coffee in one of the cafes and gaze out at one of the best views in Valencia – the beach is especially mesmerising as the sun sets and the moon rises. Yet another one of the Valencia sights ticked off your holiday bucket list!
